About GAGAKU
The Gagaku in Japan's world-class performing arts, registered UNESCO world heritage as the oldest orchestras in the world.
We can find a record that the Gagaku was brought along with the Silla Envoy in 5th century, after that, international music and dance from silk road countries were brought through the Sui and Tang dynasties era by Kenzuishi and Kentoshi (national envoys). Records is showing numerous exotic music and dance were served in the opening ceremony of Todai-ji Temple.
In Heian period, streams of the blossoming country culture, the music styles are consolidated from the aesthetic view of the Japanese, is said to have finished the prototype of the Gagaku music of right now.
雅楽は今から約1,400年ほど前、シルクロードを通じて中国に伝来した国際色豊かな歌舞を、遣隋使や遣唐使が我が国に輸入したものを基礎として、平安時代に国風文化と呼ばれる我が国独自の美意識をエッセンスとして洗練し、完成を迎えた世界最古のオーケストラミュージックです。
このサイトをご覧になる三重県にお住いの皆さんにとって、雅楽といえば伊勢神宮で「ファ～ん」と鳴っている音楽でしょ？といえばおなじみだと思います。
雅楽というと神社！というイメージが強いのですが、もともと雅楽は仏教とともに伝来した音楽でした。かの聖徳太子は「仏を敬うに蛮楽（外国の音楽）を以てせよ」とのセリフを残されています。現在でも京都や奈良の古いお寺では法要とともに雅楽が欠かせないものして伝承されています。
